The North Gondar Zone is the zone where the magnificent high mountains of Ethiopia are located. The zone covers an area of 8,393.3 square kilometers and has an estimated population of 941,747. Out of this, 7.8
per cent live in urban areas and the remaining 92.2 per cent live in rural areas. 64.2 percent of the population of the zone is in the productive age group.
